Terms & community rules
Last updated 28 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and DimeTown ("we"). They cover the game at dimetown.com and the DimeTown apps. By tapping I'm 18+ and I agree, or by playing, you accept them and our Privacy policy.
Community rules
Zero tolerance. DimeTown is a crime story, and characters can lie, threaten, rob and fight each other inside it. Real people are off limits. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users, and we remove both.
You must not, in chat, texts, names, actions or anything else you put into the game:
- Use slurs or attack anyone for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or similar.
- Post sexually explicit content, or proposition anyone for sex.
- Sexualize minors in any way. We report child sexual exploitation to the authorities.
- Harass, threaten or insult the real person behind a character, or encourage anyone to hurt themselves.
- Share or ask for real-world personal or contact details: names, addresses, phone numbers, social media, schools or ages.
- Impersonate DimeTown staff, spam, advertise, or post links.
- Cheat: exploit bugs, automate play, or interfere with the game or its servers.
- Break the law.
What happens in the story stays in the story. Threats between characters ("pay up or else") are part of the game. The same words aimed at the player are not.
Reporting, blocking and moderation
- What you type is screened before others see it, by a word filter and by AI. Lines that break the rules are stopped, and repeated attempts mute you automatically.
- You can report anyone, or anything an AI-played local says, from their name, from a line in the chat history, or from a text thread. Reports go straight to our moderators, who review them within 24 hours.
- You can block anyone. Blocked players can't hear you, text you or act on you, and you won't hear them.
- We may warn, mute, remove content, delete characters, and ban players and devices, with or without notice, when we believe the rules were broken. Serious breaches mean an immediate ban.
Who can play
You must be at least 18 years old. DimeTown includes crime, violence, simulated gambling, drugs and alcohol as part of its story, and open chat with other adults.
Your character
There's no account: your character is tied to a key saved on the device you play on. If you clear that storage or lose the device, the character is gone. Permadeath is part of the game: a character that dies is gone for good. You can delete your character any time from the phone in the game.
In-game money
Cash, bank balances, items, winnings and everything else in DimeTown are part of the game. They have no real-world value, can't be bought, sold or exchanged for real money or anything else, and can change or disappear at any time. Casino games, lottery tickets and bets in DimeTown use in-game money only; there is no real-money gambling, and nothing you win can be cashed out.
AI in the game
Locals are played by AI, and some of what they say is written by AI. It can be wrong, strange or out of line. It isn't advice and doesn't reflect our views. Report anything offensive and we'll retire the line.
Your content
You keep whatever rights you have in what you write. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, show, store, adapt and reuse it to run and promote the game. For example, locals may remember and repeat it, and the in-game newspaper may print what happened. You're responsible for what you post.
The service
DimeTown is free and under active development. Features, balance and the world change often, the city can be reset, and the game can be unavailable. We may stop offering it at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms.
Disclaimers and liability
DimeTown is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for anything other players or AI-generated content do or say, and our total liability for any claim is limited to AUD 100 (or the smallest amount your local law permits). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
App stores
If you got DimeTown from the App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and we alone are responsible for the app and its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and isn't responsible for any product claims about it. The store's own terms of use also apply to your download.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, the game will ask you to agree again before you keep playing.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, except where the law where you live gives you the right to rely on it instead.
